What makes our MA program unique?
What makes the Unity Workforce Center Medical Assistant Training Program different is that it is built specifically for real people in our community who need a fast, practical path into healthcare employment—not a traditional classroom-only experience.
Hands-on training
Our program is hands-on, clinic-based, and designed around real-world skills, not just theory. Students are trained in an actual healthcare environment.
Inclusive learning environment
We focus heavily on accessibility and inclusion. Our program supports multilingual students, especially Arabic-speaking individuals, women, and underserved populations.
Job-ready skills
Students learn how to work with patients, use medical equipment, and perform both clinical and administrative tasks from day one, preparing them for direct employment.
A day in the life of a Medical Assistant
A typical day for a Medical Assistant is fast-paced, patient-focused, and hands-on. Medical Assistants play a critical role in keeping a clinic running smoothly by supporting both the provider and the patient.
Clinical responsibilities
Medical Assistants take vital signs, record medical history, assist providers during exams, perform basic clinical tasks like injections or lab draws, and prepare/clean exam rooms between patients. They also coordinate care, including scheduling follow-ups or referrals.
Administrative duties
They handle important administrative duties such as answering phones, communicating with patients, and managing appointments. At the start of the day, a Medical Assistant may prepare exam rooms, organize supplies, and review the schedule.
Your future starts here: Job outcomes for our graduates
Graduates of the Unity Workforce Center Medical Assistant Training Program typically transition directly into entry-level healthcare positions, with a strong focus on Medical Assistant roles in outpatient settings.
Common career paths
Our graduates find roles as Medical Assistants (Clinical or Administrative), Clinic Assistants, Patient Care Coordinators, Front Desk Medical Receptionists, and Phlebotomy or Lab Assistants (depending on skill training).
Where our students stand out
We are particularly proud that our graduates are able to work in high-demand, fast-paced clinics that require both skill and cultural competence. Many of our students are bilingual, which makes them especially valuable in clinics serving diverse populations like primary care, urgent care, and specialty clinics.
